My New Blog
James D. Brausch
As many of you know, I signed a non-compete agreement when I sold my last business. It required that I not do business of any kind on the Internet during 2009.
I also did a lot of traveling in 2009 and didn't have access to a computer or the Internet for much of the year.
During that time, I found out that Wordpress was really insecure so I had to delete the admin module entirely to deal with hackers and spammers.
Still, I was able to do some fiction writing during the year which was posted on my blog. I even heard about the Twitter thing and played with that a little.
The chapters for Quantum Desire (the working title of the science fiction book) have been moved to QuantumDesire.com. I'll unprotect the chapters as soon as I figure out how all that works on this system.
I moved those posts and switched from WordPress to this system for three main reasons:
1) Wordpress is just too insecure to use these days. I'm not around to constantly monitor it and deal with hackers.
2) I do need a blog platform because I plan to only have email access to the Internet for much of 2010. I need to be able to post without having ftp access to upload pages.
3) I'll be finishing that book and publishing it. I'll be doing something else here on JamesBrausch.com. I'm not sure what yet. That will probably be happening in April or May after another big home base move to the other side of the world. Stay tuned.
Don't worry. I won't be selling anything here. I have no need to create an income and retirement suits me just fine.
Nor will I have sufficient Internet access to create any kind of Internet business in the foreseeable future.
In addition, I don't even have a merchant account or even a PayPal account after I sold my business in 2008. I don't live in a country where I can get a new PayPal account currently and I'll be moving our family's home base to a country where I definitely can't get a PayPal or a merchant account in April or May.
But I will be doing something interesting here. I'm still not sure what yet.
I'm not sure if I will be staying with this blogging platform or not. It was created starting with some software I wrote years ago and it is being provided to me for free. The programmer is a good friend of mine and so are some of the major players in the business marketing it.
Although I think it's pretty cool and I love the concept, I'm not sure if it will meet my needs or not. It is designed for making money and that might get in the way of my purpose for this blog which won't be to make money.
One thing it doesn't seem to have is the ability to post via email. At least I can't find anything in the manual for how to do that. So you won't see much here until I decide if I'm staying with this blogging platform or not.
I've been pretty out of touch with what is happening on the Internet. So...
Can anyone recommend a blogging platform that:
a) Can be accessed via email only.
b) Is free or can be paid for a couple of years in advance (I never know when I can be available to pay for something).
c) Has a nice clean layout like this one or has templates like Wordpress's "plain text" that doesn't clutter up things with a ton of graphics.
d) Automatically moderates comments and can be configured to send non-spam comments via plain text email (I can't do html email most of the time).
If this system can do it, I'm great with it. But I need to know how to post via email. Can someone leave a comment and tell me how that works?
Also, I'm open to suggestions for what you would like to see here. I've switched from living my life using the "law of attraction" to using "follow the stream" (Follow Dr. Joe Vitale's work for more information on that) so I'm open to finding out where this blog's stream should lead.
I really have no interest in Internet business anymore though, so please don't suggest that. And I won't be offering any kind of coaching. I won't be in reliable communications with the world for the next couple of years (I'll be living on our yacht which purposefully has no high speed Internet).
I will be doing more writing. I don't know if I should use this blog as the home base for those efforts of if life's stream has another purpose for this blog.
Leave a comment and let me know what you think.
